Sasha Keable Turns Post Breakup Desire Into Confidence With “options”
There is something almost dangerously honest about wanting someone you already know you should leave alone.
British Colombian singer songwriter Sasha Keable leans directly into that contradiction on her latest single, “options”, a playful and sensual R&B record that explores the complicated space between heartbreak, desire and knowing exactly what you want.
Released on October 1, “options” finds Keable looking at the aftermath of a breakup without pretending that attraction disappears simply because a relationship has ended. Instead, she turns that tension into the centre of the song, delivering her thoughts with a confidence that makes the situation feel less like emotional confusion and more like a decision she has already made.
The track was written alongside Eddie Lopes, whose previous work includes collaborations with artists such as Sienna Spiro and Olivia Dean. Interestingly, the song’s most memorable idea came almost instinctively.
“When I walked into the studio Eddie had already been working on the melody,” Keable explains. “I started singing back to him the first thing that came into my head: ‘breakup sex’ – and that became the lyric.”
That spontaneous moment became the foundation for “options”, with Keable building a smooth R&B record around the idea of returning to someone physically while already understanding that the relationship itself may not be something worth returning to.
When Desire Doesn’t Follow The Breakup
Keable has never been an artist who shies away from emotional honesty, and “options” continues that quality while showing a lighter, more playful side of her writing.
The song captures the kind of post breakup situation where the feelings are complicated, but the desire is not. There is no attempt to make the situation sound cleaner than it is. Keable simply acknowledges the temptation and owns it.
That confidence is what gives “options” its personality.
Rather than presenting herself as someone waiting for an ex to decide what happens next, Keable places herself firmly in control. She knows there are other possibilities, but she also knows what she wants in the moment.
The result is a record that feels sensual without losing its sense of humour, allowing Keable to explore intimacy, temptation and independence within the same conversation.
A Visual Return To Colombia
The release is accompanied by an official music video directed by Josefina Santos and filmed in Colombia, bringing another layer to the record through Keable’s connection to the country.
The visual complements the warmth and sensuality of “options”, giving the song a setting that feels intimate while allowing Keable’s personality to remain at the centre.
There is a natural connection between the music and the visual here. “options” is about following an impulse while knowing exactly what that impulse means, and the video carries that same sense of freedom.
A Major Year For Sasha Keable
The release arrives during one of the biggest periods of Keable’s career so far.
In 2026, the singer has earned two MOBO nominations, bringing her career total to three, as well as her first BRIT nomination. Her music has surpassed 200 million global streams, while her live schedule has placed her alongside some of R&B’s biggest names.
She toured across the US and Europe with Giveon, performed at Roots Picnic in London alongside Nas and later appeared at Roots Picnic in Philadelphia ahead of Jay Z.
She also recently performed to a packed audience in Dublin while supporting Olivia Dean on her “The Art Of Loving” tour.
Earlier this year, Keable also brought her vocals to the Tiny Desk stage, with the official release of her performance giving audiences another opportunity to experience the strength of her live voice.
From “ACT II” To “options”
“options” follows ACT II, the expanded 12 track continuation of Keable’s deeply personal act right project.
The expanded release added five new compositions that continued exploring love, heartbreak and self preservation. Tracks such as “Ceiling Fan” offered a stripped back and vocal focused perspective, while “Nobody” explored emotional vulnerability and “Heal Something” approached yearning through restrained production.
Where those songs often sit closer to the emotional weight of relationships, “options” brings a different kind of energy.
It is still connected to the same world of love and heartbreak, but this time Keable sounds more playful. She is not necessarily trying to solve the situation. She is simply telling the truth about what she wants.
And sometimes, that honesty makes for the most compelling R&B.
Sasha Keable Knows She Has “options”
There is a confidence running through Sasha Keable’s latest release that makes “options” more than a song about wanting an ex back.
It is about understanding that desire can exist alongside independence.
Keable can miss someone, want them physically and still know that she has other choices. That contradiction becomes the song’s greatest strength, allowing her to approach post breakup desire without turning it into another predictable heartbreak record.
With “options”, Sasha Keable continues to show why she has become one of the voices worth watching within contemporary R&B. The songwriting remains personal, the vocals remain undeniable and the subject matter feels refreshingly unfiltered.
After a year filled with major nominations, global stages, more than 200 million streams and a growing international audience, Keable is clearly not slowing down.
And judging by “options”, she has plenty more to say.
