Dey Say Step Into the Spotlight with Their Debut Music Video “Calling For You”

South Africa’s newest boyband, Dey Say, has officially made their visual debut with the release of their first music video, “Calling For You,” marking a defining moment for both the group and the country’s evolving pop scene.

Formed in Johannesburg, Dey Say, made up of J, Dre, Chad, and Elim, first caught the public’s attention through their viral mashups and cover performances across TikTok and social media. Their effortless harmonies, charisma, and modern take on R&B-infused pop quickly set them apart as the first authentic South African boyband in nearly two decades to emerge outside of the reality TV format.

Now, with Calling For You and its freshly released music video, Dey Say are showing fans exactly who they are. The video brings their sound to life, pairing their smooth vocals with striking visuals that reflect their energy, chemistry, and forward-facing vision. It’s more than a debut, it’s a statement of identity.

Sonically, Calling For You blends Afro rhythms, global pop, and modern R&B, giving birth to what the group proudly calls “APOP”  African Pop. This hybrid sound is distinctly their own, balancing international polish with a deep sense of local authenticity. The video complements that blend perfectly, showcasing a youthful confidence that feels both fresh and proudly homegrown.

Beyond the visuals, what Calling For You represents is a new moment for South African music, proof that pop made on African soil can be just as global, stylish, and emotionally resonant as anything coming out of Los Angeles or London.

As the group continues to prepare for their debut EP expected in early 2026, Calling For You marks the start of something much bigger. With this release, Dey Say is not only reintroducing the concept of the boyband to South Africa but redefining it, entirely grounded in culture, united in purpose, and ready to make the world listen.
